適用范圍：1.1 This standard ( Parts 1 and 2/Sec 1 ) applies to circuit-breakers, the main contacts of which are intended to be connected to circuits the rated voltage of which does not exceed 1 000 V ac or 1 200 V dc; it also contains additional requirements for integrally-fused circuit-breakers. It applies irrespective of the rated currents, the method of con struction (for example, conventional circuit-breakers, moulded-case circuit-breakers ) or the pro-posed applications of the circuit-breakers.Supplementary requirements for circuit-breakers used as direct-on-line starters are given in IS : 8544 ( Part 1 )-1977〓.1.2 The circuit-breakers used in hazardous areas, railways, road vehicles, merchant ships or in aircraft are not covered in this standard.1.3 Particular requirements for circuit-breakers essentially used by laymen ( miniature circuit-breakers) as well as for circuit-breakers also intended to provide earth-leakage protection are also not covered in this standard.Note — Circuit-breakers covered in this standard may to provided with devices for automatic opening under predetermined conditions other than those of overcurrent and undervoltage as, for example, reversal of power or current. This standard does not deal with the verification of operation under such predetermined conditions.
