適用范圍：1.1　This Pakistan Standard provides methods for de termining the resistance of yarns in sheet form to flexing and abrasion when the specimen is subjected to unidireclional re ciprocal folding and rubbing over a bar of specified dimen sions under known condi〓ions of pressure and tension.1.2 This method is applicable to both spun yarns and filament yarns. It is paticularly useful for the comparison of the yarns of same size, but yarns of different sizes can be compared by making special adjustments.1.3 As the abrasion resistance of yarns is affected by certain properties of the yarn as nature of fibres forming ma terial, the size of the fibre or filaments, the length of the fibres, the size and construction of the yarn, the finish applied to or left in the yarn and its state of moisture contents, so comparisions between different materials will be most useful when these fac tors are strictly comparable.1.4 The abrasion resistance of yarns is also affected by some other factors pertaining to the testing procedures which include, among others, the nature of the abradant (bar), the shape of the abradant, the tension on the yarn, the pressure on the yarns, the nature of the mechanical action and, in the case of the flexing and abrasion tester, whether the tension is applied uniformly and whether the bar tends to rotate or turn about its own axis.1.5 The relationship between the the apparent abrasion resistance of yarns and the abrasion resistance of fabrics as observed in the laboratories is quite high but the relationship between laboratory observations and wear in the field has only been established quantitatively.Differences of much less than 100 per cent between yarn speci-mens are probably of little significance. Differences greater than 100 per cent indicate increased abrasion resistance; but not necessarily twice the wear life.
